Modern physics from an elementary point of view

Physics -- atomic physics, nuclear physics, molecular physics, solid-state physics -- is a very complicated thing. The essential idea of this account is to go back to the main fundamental ideas which I feel have been somehow lost in the wealth of complicated theory and mathematics. Therefore I shall be very qualitative. We shall only calculate order of magnitude answers to all the questions that we shall ask. Whenever there is an equal sign, it will not mean "equal", only "the same order of magnitude as". Factors such as 2, pi, etc., will be neglected. What a wonderful life, but only from the philosophical point of view. In the daily work of the physicist, constants are, of course, important. However, I would like you to consider this account as a form of "higher entertainment".
